Hey guys,

Can someone suggest me a 27" monitor. I am upgrading from an old 24" Samsung monitor 1680 x 1050. My main use for it will be everyday browsing / text reading and also image editing as I mainly do website development. I also want to use it for gaming from time to time.

The screen will be in a place with indirect sunlight / light so does that answer if i should go glossy or not?

There's no specific price range to be honest maybe something less than £650?

If you can stretch to an extra £100 or so the Samsung S27B970 is phenomenal - although it may struggle in a well lit environment.

The only other monitor in this range that I've used is the Asus PB278Q and it is absolutely fantastic also. Uses the same PLS panel as the Samsung (their answer to IPS technology) and comes in a Semi-gloss finish which allows colours to pop and with next to no glare/reflections.
It has come down in price a bit too, you could easily pick one up for just under £500.

Personally I'd stay away from gloss in your environment. The new Dell's are supposed to have a good anti-glare coating, doesn't wash out the colours like the older ones. Quality panels and within your price range. The UltraSharp U2713H looks good to me and its up on OcUK for £599.

i have 3 glossy screens and 2 matte

i direct sunlight all i can see is me in all 3 of the glossys.

Imac 27" Samsung SA950D & Macbook
matt is fine

plus matt is normally better for colors to be accurate i find, as the glass changes your perception of them.

I recently bought a Dell UltraSharp U2713HM monitor and it's really very good - brilliant picture quality, nice stand and just an all round excellent monitor.
