Spec me a £3000 Base Unit

I cant believe a few things in this thread:

a)people getting jealous and telling him not to spend £3k

b)quite a number of specs don't have 8800gtx sli, for 3k, i would want to to do the housework too!

c) OP: e penis it out, get the best of the best. :)

Read the front end of this thread, I think I already answered that part of your comment.... :D I do my bit, thanks....

Yes i read that you give the red cross £10 per month which is very good of you :), I just thought you might consider doing "more" for charity rather than watch your 3k rig depreciate to 2k in 3 months you could buy a poor african village a well which will last longer than 3 months and unlike the difference between a 2k & 3k rig the well would actually be noticed and would also make you feel great about yourself.

I'm in no way jealous, I just can't help feeling strongly about the tragic waste of money. If you would have said spec me a complete rig for 2k i would have thought fair enough, but 3k on a base unit

Guess what?

I bought a bag of haribo today for the fun of it, wasn't hungry - it provides no nutritional value and it depreciated to being absollutely worthless the second they were put into use.

I could have given a pound to buy drugs for some African kids or whatever instead of buying this bag of haribo, I didn't - get off this guys case.

A threethousand pound base will probably not get upgraded inside 2 or even 3 years. He gives £10 a month to charity which I doubt a many if anyone else in this thread does. Wow.

Hope you enjoy your sexy new rig man, for 3k I would like it to be custom case build with heatpipes all over it and perhaps silent running whilst remaining a monster by putting a fair whack of money into the case you can ensure it doesn't depreciate, however if you want it all on components then go for it!

OK,

could do with a bit of refining on the response.... but hey, in three months I can prob do the same again if I wished and more so why not..... A bag of Haribo is good.... so why not 3 months again.... I seen these posts and are not againgsnt them, in the beguining sure... but i took them on and imo redfined my buying..... has made a difference....

Its my money, not yours, but have a go why not....

to the original poster, i spent over 4k this month (and some more to come next month) and there is 2 main reasons why i dont ask for advice anymore on these forums (i made the same mistake before of asking for some advice, just gave up) is because

1) you get ****'s that simply dont care about advice which proves they know nothing about what they are here for or are way to imature to supply the requested help

2) i know enough about hardware to do me, so i dont ask unless i REALLY have to.

and to all those people who are jelous and rant at poeple like us who have worked a hell lot harder than some to aquire the things i love doing (pc's), go get a decent job and earn the money to do the same.

think about poeple who spend 5k a month on car parts... people dont screw at them lol

computers are a natural interest of overclocker's (not the store, poeple) and we thrive on haveing the top stuff.

....... i think ive gone to far, im gonna shoosh and make some tea, anyone wanta cup? ill fed ex it.

Today is the day you should be ordering. :D

Personally, if storage is important to you, I'd get a RocketRaid PCIe SATA card and 4 or 5 x Seagate 500~700GB's.
Then if one HDD fails - You still have the data - Just replace the HDD and away you go. :)
(And the write speeds are not the atrocious speed of on-board ones!!)

I have RAID 5 and the read speeds are fantastic - AND you have redundancy.
I've lost about 1TB of data over the years - Take redundancy and backups seriously.

Also, in comparison - I spent 2k on my system about 9 months ago.
Don't regret spending a penny of it.
About £500 was just case and mods. >.<

Could EASILY spend 3k on a system. I'm already running out of HDD space with just under 1TB. :/
