The 4K high resolution for photoshop and graphics work. I am only a light gamer and 1080p fine for that. Could spend up to £750 but would rather it be in the £600 region if possible. I have a Del u2711 at the moment. Was looking at their 32" 4K monitors but the prices are over a grand. I suppose if it were *really* worth it I could save upa bit more...

I like the idea of USB-C so that I can connect my work Mac to the monitor through one cable and charge it too.

EDIT: THis thing looks cool - the LG 38" curved....

so if you want high res plus USB-C I would look at these from the LG range

38UC99 / 38WK95C (38" ultrawide with USB-C, the 95C has HDR10)
32UD99 - 32" 4K UHD USB-C HDR10

Thank you.
The 32UD99 looks fabulous and I may need to save a little extra to get one of those, which I am happy to do. I want to get the right monitor.
As great as they are I'm sure, I can't quite get my head around wide screen 21:9 monitors....

21:9 certainly has its uses, but as always its different horses for different courses!

the 32UD99 is pretty damn good I will say - I used one for a few months and everything just worked very well

I’m in the same boat, looking for a good all rounder for both photo work and gaming. I also have my eye on the 32UD99 but it is a bit pricey. I’m hoping for a price drop once the 32UK950 lands.

I'm holding fire for a bit. Seems a very fluid landscape at the moment and will wait a few months for things to stabilise.

CES 2018 only revealed a couple of new models in the 32" 4K IPS category and the pricing of those is rather scary.

Lenovo P32u $1,349
LG 32UK950 $1,299

@Daniel - LG

Do you have any news on the UK price for the 32UK950 and when it might land? The $ price seems a little high compared with the 32UD99. Spec wise it only appears to gain a little extra brightness, or is there something else I am missing?

Hi IT Troll,

32UK950 I think the MSRP will be around £1069.99-£1099.99 inc vat

Spec wise Vs the 32UD99, the 32UK950 is Nano-IPS rather than IPS, DCI-P3 98% rather than 95%, HDR600 not HDR10, and has Thunderbolt 3 for Apple connectivity.

Thanks for that. Do you know when it will land in the UK?

I'm not sure I can justify the extra cost vs the 32UD99. But I do like the new style stand on this year's models.

The older 32UD99 supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode over USB-C for 4K.

The newer 32UK950 adds Thunderbolt 3 support to the USB-C connector.

It looks like the Latitude E7480 has DisplayPort Alt Mode as standard with Thunderbolt 3 available as an option. So I think it would work, but the signal type would depend on the laptop spec and cable used.

Thanks :) I looked at the specs of my 7480 on Dell's site and it says it has Thunderbolt 3, but I can't see anything in Device Manager for it. Hopefully it should work.

I managed to pickup a brand new 32UD99 for £600. Very impressed so far. For me, the changes in the new model aren't significant enough to justify the cost difference.

I'm not convinced about using HDR on the desktop though; even with the latest Windows 10 update, it just doesn't look right. I'll probably only use the HDR mode for the odd game.

That's a really good price!
