So, as title, im looking at the more notebook range of things;

Preferably 13.3" screen, but will go just below to around 11.6/12.1"

Spec has to be fairly decent, maybe the new Fusion/Zacate AMD :D

Hopefully Chiclet keys, and not a netbook ie - not 10.1" as i fancy something more "extravagant" as a word :)

Hopefully something with decent performance in graphics, i think the Zacate has integrated HD6310 or something?

Hopefully 1280x800, maybe 1366x768 not bothered of either :)

Win 7

2/4GB ram

must have wifi and USB's, maybe a HDMI socket too?

Hopefully someone can help with my choice, as i dont know what to look for!

so Fire away!

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT:

What it will be used for;

Notes taking at university
web browsing, at home/university/tethered to my phone
Some light gaming - in the summer as i will be a member of Runescape and have my yearly fix before university!
Video Watching

Doesnt need a DVD Drive though! Can drag files to USB etc if needs be :)

Mhmm, dont really fancy that bud, but cheers for getting back to me with a reply :)

Looking more at the new AMD Zacate/Fusion notebooks :)

Hmm.. can I ask why you're focused on the AMD ones? The Intel GMA HD chipset can cope fine with Youtube HD / DXVA HD acceleration, the CPU can keep up with even some photoshop... While of course the form factor and other decisions made by Acer on the 3820 are subject to debate, surely the hardware itself ticks the box?

Or is there something the Zacate does which you need that I missed? :confused:

They have great reviews, and the pricing is really good as well, competitive toward those like the 3820, however if i were to consider something like your original post, it would have to be the Acer Travelmate 8371, however it seems you can only get hold of them second hand.

I think im just trying to broaden my range of options, as i will be attending university in september, and would like something portable, and have that small edge that if needs be i could do some light gaming, hence the Zacate with its GPU and the 8371 for its GPU too, the HD4330. I have also been looking at the Asus Transformer as that also ticks all the boxes, and i would compromise for that extra "comfort", touch screen, its new tech ( which i most certainly love :) ) and then its android as well, and honeycomb, so there are loads of options. I would consider a Mac, but its way over priced, for the spec, but then again they do look special.

I think now if i were to have a wide range of different platforms and to have that decision, its gives me an edge and push toward which system i'd like, each have their own advantages and disadvantages however i still feel i'd like something slightly newer in forms of tech. I understand the 3820 can do most of my things, but so can others, my netbook can as well as my phone, but i think with that extra edge, and with the new Zacate platform, it boasts its graphical capabilities, and its CPU performance, as well as a choice for up to 8GB RAM i believe :)

I will keep an eye on current lappies, and notebook pcs, and even tablets and will keep this updated. Currently bogged down with coursework as final deadline is 2 weeks tomorrow, so fingers crossed everything i have is complete to a high grade/standard.

Thanks for your replies, and in all respect keep posting, would like to see what other laptops/notebooks are in the market as i've been looking more at mobile/android devices.

Thanks very much :)

I suppose that is the downfall of the ones with just Intel HD graphics; they are pants for gaming.

I've also a desktop at home, so I didn't care for gaming but instead opted for battery stamina. I guess if you're loking for something at uni your requirements would differ, so yes I'd look directly at something with a descrete GPU. As a main PC, I might look at trading a bit of battery stamina for something with more CPU grunt (again I was able to forego this on my notebook as I can save the heavy lifting until I'm back at my desk)
