Phenom haters, really? If I recall correctly, Stulid had a Phenom for 2 years, am I right Stu?

No one hates the Phenom, it's just that at the moment, nothing can beat the i5 2500k in gaming.

And that GTX 470 runs quite hot and requires quite a bit of power.

I did indeed.

I also had a Zotac GTX470, they are too hot and very loud.

And I dont think the OP's PSU is enough,

GeForce GTX 470
On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit. We recommend at least 35 Amps in total available on the +12 volts rails (accumulated).

Ah i see he switched to a bequite. Should still be ok, 36 Amps on 12v.

Phenom + mobo = £120

i5k + mobo = £233

Are you saying that the i5 is almost twice as fast as the x4 in gaming at OPs desired res?

The x4 is better gaming performance per £ isnt it?

Yep.

The heat and money saved in electricity costs alone are worth the move especially with the 18% price hike due soon.

And hes not buying a dead end AM3 socket either.
