Hey guys I know that I've asked for a lot of spec checks in the past but now I have the cash and will be ordering next Tuesday :D I need a full PC excluding OS, monitor, keyboard and mouse etc

I will be gaming on it at a resolution of 1920x1080 and would like to play games in medium to high details if possible.

If doable these are the things I would LIKE:

500GB HDD

4-8GB RAM

decent graphics card

Wifi card

Dvd drive

thanks for any ideas :)

other promotional items"

I personally think buying that much B grade is asking for problems. Theres bound to be something missing from at least one component...and it may be something that you may struggle to find.

I have nothing against B grade in general, I bought a K2 cooler a few weeks back for half retail price, it had a couple of clips missing, Bailey in CS said he may be able to source me some, but Alpenfohn sent me some new ones before he had chance. I also ordered a B grade NZXT case over the weekend, should be here tomorrow, fingers crossed.

But like Gav posted above, it will be nigh on impossible to pick up parts to build the kind of system it sounds like you want with your budget :(

Buy used :)

£200 netted me:

Phenom II 955BE w' Zalman CNPS10X Quiet
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 (AM3+)
8GB TeamGroup Elite 1600MHz
PNY GTX460 XLR8 1GB
OCZ CoreXstream 500W
500GB Samsung SpinPoint
Xigmatek Helios XTK231

I suppose it depends on what resolution your running that the graphics card in this budget will be able to perform against, a 7770 or similar should run most games high on 720p. So if you have a 1280 x 1024 monitor that will be good, but if your running a higher res like 1080p you will need something like a 7850. Unless of course you don't mind playing non-native res but that would look ugly on an lcd (personal preference though, you might not mind it).

Here you go, if you can muster up the extra money this would definitely be worth it, but if you can't you can drop the ram down to 4GB and that should get the cost within your original budget. You could also choose a different case as its just preference but I though it would look sweet with the colors of the rest of the components.

Edit: Damn I forgot the DVD drive and wifi card.

I would be inclined to save up another £100, this would then enable you to get a better Gpu(7850 2gb) and a better mobo(Z77). The Z77 mobo would then give you the opportunity to upgrade to an i5 Cpu in the future. Which would be a better long term investment.

I'd suggest waiting on Haswell in June and save some more pennies. Come June he will have been a member for a year, at 100 posts he could well cop free P&P too :)

All depends on what the Haswell equivalent will cost...:)

Yes Haswell might well be a little more but it's because he is also close to free P&P that I would wait.

As he is on a tight budget he could then snipe parts on offer from week to week or special daily offers to help get the most for his cash......£500 would be a more reasonable budget to play with I would certainly agree on that :)

Hey guys just been reading up and I MIGHT go with an amd build. It seems the new trinity processors are really worth their salt and the APU is excellent. I could easily upgrade and buy a 7850 down the line so how would it compare in performance to am i3 build?
