Hi im looking for a dual core intel system with a 4850 so i can play games such has PRO evo 10 and need for speed Shift on my main tv as well as streaming .MKV files as well as my ps3 is useless for that.

i also going to use it for watching streamed videos from the web that my wife normally watches so she doesnt use my main i7 gaming rig to do so :)

i prefer to get my stuff from *can computers as i get free delivery and their CS is top notch but willing to shop around as well

o is it? ok cool well like i said i dont mind where i buy my gear. OCUK, e*uer, etc etc its al good :)

But the main issue is what can i get for £400 that fits my needs?

The thing with HTPC's is if you want to get a HTPC case and OS needs to be Windows so you can play those games on a 400 pound budget its half the money gone already. If you want to play games on it for £400 maybe pick up something like this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-180-OK&tool=5

(or build similar specs - but for the money its a great deal and i doubt you would save much building)

then buy some quiet fans and such to get the noise level down a bit and later on chuck in a larger HDD. If you want a small form factor PC then you really can't get the gaming power or enough space and PSU power to run a decent GFX card.

i already have an OS though and i dont want a tower case, it has to sit nicely in a AV rack

i can already get a mobo cpu and ram for around £150 in total leaving me plenty for the rest,

A lot over, but thats due to the case really. If you didn't need the graphics I'd be pointing you towards an Antec Micro Fusion, but you do, so... Something like the following would do:

Silver MATX Media Center Case With Brushed Aluminium Front Panel - No PSU
Chieftec HT-01 Silver MicroATX Media Center HTPC Case with iMON LCD unit and Remote - With 300W PSU - not sure I'd want to trust the PSU
Extra Value Black Opera ATX Desktop Case 500W PSU (20+4 pin) - again, I wouldn't be sure about the PSU

If you couldn't afford the Antec Fusion, but can go over £400, I'd look at the silverstones, LC13, 17, 03

I've pushed things a little more than the minimum, but think they are worth the extra few even if it adds up.

Just throwing another case suggestion in... Antec NSK 2480 Desktop Case? Depending on the size of the AV rack of course...

Yeh, I had that case in the specs, but decided its too bland and if was going for something like that might as well go for a cheapo :D All depends on your taste.
