I'm giving away my trusty Shuttle SK43G to my auntie, so I'm looking for a new shuttle for my bedroom. I've already got 2GB DDR400, 200GB HDD, choice of black or beige DVD±rw. All I need is the shuttle, cpu and gfx card (probably chuck a floppy/card reader in there too).
I will be using the system for games and displaying videos on an lcd, as well as occasional downloads. My current thoughts are to go for a skt 939 Athlon with 1MB L2 cache, but I'm open to suggestions.
Spec away guys.

Thx.

you could look at getting a sn21g5 w/ 3700+ s939 and a radeon x1900 however i am not sure if this is a balanced system (cpu powerful enough for ram/graphics) or if there is anything better you could get for the cash. my last shuttle is 3 years old so i'm not really much help :(

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably go for the Venice 3700 and the SN21G5. Still not decided on the graphics card yet tho. From your suggestions it seems that it's better to go for a better chipset with only 256MB ram, rather than something like a Leadtek GeForce 7100 GS Turbo Cache 512MB. Is that the case?

you get what you pay for. Basically you'v got to even it all out, cheap graphics card just doesnt cut it for games..
7100s are a bit of a joke too, unless ofcourse ** just playing pacman or something..? definatlly a 3700 and using as much as ** budget on a graphics card as possible..

oh, and yes a 512 7100 is novelty, you'll find decent graphics cards have ddr3 memory, not sure about the 7900GS someone recommended, or was it a 7600GS, but theyll be ddr2 if not 3. The 7100 most likely doesnt have remotly decent ram on it, and its not exactly powerful enough to even warrant 512mb.
