Spec me a 40th birthday present

if you don't feel you want/need more stuff, then surely an event based present would be the obvious choice?

as much as I prefer to have things that last, if you have everything you really want then spending on good memories is worthwhile, especially if it's not something you often do.
 
Thanks for the help/ non help so far ;) For the record, threesomes, prostitutes, etc are out the window. More women are more trouble than they're worth!

I don't play any instruments which is a nuisance as that's a good idea Sandycheeks.

similar spot for myself im hopeless at gift ideas for myself, always feel like im asking for too much whenever the gf asks what id like.
