Hi all,

Looking for a new TV - Was going to get a KS7000 but it appears they've stopped making them, sadly. Therefore I'm looking for something similar in terms of price/performance.

42"- 49"
4K
HDR
Built in Netflix and Amazon apps (that both stream 4k)
~£800

Looking to pair either with a playbase or a new AVR.

Cheers

I am in the same boat as you after my TV broke last night....KS8000 looks like a good option for me, but £1200 is a lot for a TV, but may take a gamble.

have you got any ideas for a TV in the 800-1000 price range? (for a 49-50 inch set)

Yeah I have the same thoughts about the KS8000, just a bit too much.

I see a couple of stores stock the KS7000 still, but they're not well known so I'm not sure I want to take the risk if I have to return it.

I was in the same boat and ended up going for the KS7500 which is the curved version of the 7000. Should be here on Tuesday so looking forward to seeing what it's like.

Recently purchased a Sony KD-43XD8305 for £600 (around £630 retail) after salesman discounts. Android OS with usual Netflix and Amazon very happy with it so far, at least coming from an old 32" Panasonic.

broken tv's were unfortunately not under a 5 year guarantee then ?

Ideally need to wait a couple of months for this years models to drop in price (checkout pricespy eg), since, as commented, last years models are drying up
(but 49" 850v still at currys)

I am still brand loyal (Pansonic) unless they start letting me down, and would probbaly go Pan dx750, if I had to buy today.

Hisense were getting good reviews in that price bracket with last years models may be worth doing some research into this years and see if they offer the same value for money.

I've posted this in another thread, but I'm in the same boat as you and I like the look of the LG 49UH850V, might be worth checking out?

that is a very good TV. I have the 43UH750V and it's blown me away and that is coming from plasma GT50.

just now is the worst time to buy a tv. all the old models your guys are looking at are EOL and went EOL 5 months ago. that is why no major retailer has any stock. all the new models have been released and they are priced at RRP. the best time to buy a TV is end of January to around March/April.

If you want a TV now go for the LG or one of the new models but you will need to pay a lot more for the new models. It's how the tv market works. All new models launch around April/May time. They will all be half price in 7 months time.

I took the plunge and bought a ks8000 and installed it yesterday..... must admit I am massively disappointed with the set, huge stuttering problems at first which I fixed by removing auto motion.

HD channels from my sky box look inferior than my six year old Samsung LED, Xbox games look good though, haven't tried a bluray.

Sorry to hijack thread
Is having the sky box daisy chained to my Xbox one via HDMI a good idea with this tv ? As the tv came with an external box with hdmi and USB ports on.

it's been noted that using xbox one in the middle makes PQ worse.

do you have a sky Q box?

you may want to look at copying some settings from avforums.

Did the xbox one s get a firmware update ? if not

While you wouldn’t need to connect a Blu-ray player, if you had thoughts of hooking up a Sky Q box or Ultra HD BT YouView box, you'll lose the UHD parts.

The Xbox still outputs a 2160p signal to the TV, but we suspect it's been downscaled to 1080p and then upscaled, rather than natively preserved.

We questioned Xbox about this and received the following statement: "Xbox One S does not currently support 4K pass-through via HDMI-in. We will continue to explore making the changes needed for the hardware to support pass-through as 4K broadcasts become more widespread."

thought i will give an update on this...

ever since plugging the Sky box directly into the TV (removing the xbox one hdmi pass thru), the quality has improved hugely on my KS8000. impressed with the TV so far, haven't tried any 4k content yet apart from a YouTube video which looked good. Impressed with the Smart TV apps as well, which is a good replacement for the Xbox one apps
