Hiya,

Looking to Spend £500 on a PC.

I quite fancy a shuttle, the requirments are, it plays games (newish) to a fairly high level, it has as much HDD space as possible and it has a DVD writer.

I don't need a monitor, looking to order today so a quick reply would be apreciated.

Thanks
:)

How flexible is the idea of a shuttle?

I have one, don't get me wrong they're good machines, but for games they don't cut it any more. I also find you end up paying a premium for the smallness, something you shouldn't do with a £500 budget.

edit:mishima, good spec. I 2nd'd it.

:) That would bring you closer to budget or you could with the money saved on the case and PSU get yourself a 8800GTS which would be better value for money imo!

It does increase your budget more though, its all down to you. If I was you I would wait another couple of weeks because the lower memory g80's are ude out and you could easily pick one of those up and hav much more power behind your GPU.

If you already have a case and PSU then I'd take mishima's specification, it brings it down to around £590ish, if you want to get it a bit closer to the budget still then you could drop the Tuniq Tower and move to a 4300 (retail) chip which will save you another £40 or so. However with a stock cooler the system won't be quite so good for overclocking. :)

its not that important to be honest.

I already have an ok case and Power Supply. So lets take them out of the equation!

In which case (no pun intended) take them off Mishima's list - I think that stands as the best budget build, anything less would be a waste of money (especially for games).

You could drop the mobo down to a Asrock Conroe945G-DVI (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard at £49, and maybe down to a 7600 GT, but then your starting to seriously compromise what your PC is capable of.

I'm not sure how the Asrock clocks with the core 2's but the DS3 definately clocks excellent with them and best value for money like Melbourne says above it limits your capabilities!

Hehe, I did put that in eventually!

For some reason every time I click go to checkout, it takes me to the login page, then when I try to login it just goes back to the login page again with no messages.

Very strange.
