Hi folks, I've only every built my own PC once a few years ago, but was put off by the fact the end product sounded like a jet engine. With Windows 7 out though I want to upgrade, preferably around the £500 mark.

I'm going to be using it for video editing, general office work and only an occasional game, namely the new Final Fantasy MMORPG when it comes out next year :D As this is written for the PS3 too, I won't be able to use any onboard graphics.

I'm very fussy about noise though, and am willing to sacrifice some grunt to keep the sound of the system down to a minimum.

I was looking at the i5 as a possible CPU. I've already got a mouse, keyboard, monitor and a new copy of Windows 7 64-bit ready to go on it.

I appreciate any helpful suggestions.

regards

Thank you very much for the reply. Does the retail CPU come with a quiet cooler, or will I need to purchase a separate heat sink?
