Spec me a £550 PC

OK my brother in law has around £450 to upgrade his old PC (could possibly go a little higher). He mainly uses it for playing games, watching films and storing/viewing photos etc.

I need to get the following;

PSU
CPU
RAM
Motherboard
Graphics card

I'm totally open to suggestions, I unsually go for Intel CPUs and ATI graphics cards, but anythings open.

My inital thoughts were alongs the lines of an i5 with either 460 or 5770/5850.

Thanks guys. They're both slightly over what I was hoping to spend, but going for anything cheaper drops the spec quite a bot (i3 or 5770 etc.)

Would AMD by be any better regarding cost? Or is there any other way to slighty shave off the costs without a large jump down in spec?

Ah so I have! In truth the budget is somewhere inbetween but it's good to have a spec at each end of the range.

If I have something inbetween would it be best to spend an extra £40-£50 on going from i3 to i5 or spending the extra on bumping up the graphics card spec?

I doubt he'll end up adding another card, if anything he'll just upgrade the one card.

Also would I need the CPU cooler? How well does the i5 overclock on the stock cooler? I have mine on watercooling so have nothing to compare to.
