have been out of the game for a while now, and my amd 3700 san diego is seeming a little tired these days, so wanting to upgrade.

Ideally want something fairly quick, maybe something that will handle most of todays games but not on max settings etc.

In the past ive always been an amd fanboy, but as cpu's have progress so much unsure which id get as better bang for my buck.

Build doesnt need to includes hard drives, optical drives or OS, unsure if my current pc case will be ok with the size of some of the graphics cards these days, so a new case may have do be factored in on the price, but if poss do 2 specs one with case and one without maybe?.

anyways, cheers in advanced folks :)

Can't beat what Stulid has specced, but just one thing to check is that your Hard Drives and Optical Drives are SATA connections rather than IDE. The socket 1155 motherboards don't have IDE ports. Nothing worse than getting a new build and having to wait on other parts.

hmm good point, optical drivers are IDE :(, although if i was to upgrade id probably just get a bluray/dvd burner instead of having 2 separate drives

So its only the optical drive thats IDE? well thats not an issue at £15 for a new one, £50 for a blu-ray.

yes just the optical drive, have recently upgraded all my HDD's to Sata. quick question may need my eyes testing but couldnt see how many sata ports the mobo had from reading discription on OC?

also what's the cpu/mobo like for OC'ing if i invested in watercooler for cpu? wouldnt be anything crazy, or would it be perfect as it is out the box?

It has a selection of speeds from 4ghz to 4.8ghz in the BIOS, just click on one and it does the rest.

perfect :) well too be honest, i feel it will probably be fine as it is out the box considering what ive been living with for past 5 or so years lol

another quick question, can anyone recommend me a decent cpu cooler? also anyone recommend a good wireless keyboard/mouse setup for £35 tops, also a monitor at least 23" with hdmi for around £180 mark that would be good enough for games?? thanks

for the monitor, get the samsung syncmaster XL2370

it's what i'm using. i picked it up for £178 off ------, which is a great

EDIT: oops, totally forgot about not naming competitors. sorry ocuk

cool, how about wireless keyboard/mouse for £35 or less any recommendations there? unsure about that monitor though aswell, as have also read some bad reviews on it aswell

Also i should have an extra £150 to put towards the pc build, is there anything that could be slightly improved from the original spec given??

Thanks

Thats an update of the original spec I gave,

A Gold rated PSU so will eventually pay for itself with the reduced electricity consumption.

A overclocked GTX570.

Just pick a case you like to suit, I have put a rather nice lancool in the above, or pick one around the £50 again to keep costs down.

Seems nice enough, the true test is in real reviews and end-user verdicts.
