For gaming, not extreme gaming.

All the requirements for a base unit, no Keyboard Mice, other Peripherals needed, also no cd/dvd drives or softwares, also a case/PSU needed

If it needs to be £600 or less then Ocuk ddr2 800 and a 7900GS would bring it under budget

Yea, its strictly under 600, no more

also will i need to go as far as a X1950?, i will be gaming, using photoshop etc but not heavy gaming, jus ta few online gaming and that.

Are you sure 380W will cope - without a struggle, i might be upgrading in the future, not keen on switching PSU's then, definately not overclocking

Any thing wrong in this, im still bothered that the PSU should atleast me 500-600W

It really doesn't need to be. I am running: e6300 @ 2.8ghz, 2x250GB HDs, 7800GT, 2GB RAM, DVD RW, Fan controller etc. on a 430w PSU and have plenty to spare. I was running the same system but with a pentium D @ 3.8ghz which used around 90w more power.

so the 430 W w/ the case is fine?

Yup. Perhaps it won't be enough in the mysterious future but it will certainly do for now.

Thats why id rather have a better PSU now instead of upgrading it in the future and to be honest , i dont feel safe with a 430W with that kind of rig :P

If you dont mind me asking - Its off the topic but like is there a program that tells youhow much power your cpu, ram etc is using?

Not really. You could estimate it based on voltages but it would be wildly inacurate. There are devices that measure the voltage and current entering the power cord that will tell you accurately what the power used is. I thik the most popular one is marketed under the name Kill-a-Watt.

If you were enterprising you could also rig your own up as well provided you had an ammeter (or a multimeter for that matter).

The problem with those is that they only measure the amount that is being drawn from the mains socket and doesn't take into account the PSUs efficiency.

Im scared, if i will regret having 1GB in stead of 2GB and maybewith 1GB the processor can be upgraded with a E6400 - Retail.

Just get a single stick of 1GB rather than 2x512MB at the moment, then when prices fall (rumoured to be not too long into the new year) grab another. So long as they're not wildly different (try and make it the same manufacturer and model if at all possible) they should be fine.

And yes - that PSU will be fine. Just don't try feeding 2x8800GTX's from it ;)
