Hi Guys, new poster here.

I am looking to build a new Gaming Rig. It's been around 5 years since I last upgraded.

I don't need a monitor / kb/mouse etc. I will need an O/S as the PC I have now is being stolen by my daughter.

My monitor supports 1680x1050, this is what I play all games in, I play a wide and varied selection and will be playing ESO when it comes out, having played in beta my current PC handles it fairly well but it's time for a change!

I'm out of touch with the latest tech, I have had a good look through the forums but there just doesn't seem to be anything that grabs my attention. I am happy to go AMD or Intel, SSD is not a necessity but will happily have a build specced with one.

Thanks Stulid,

Is it worth adding a SSD in there and taking a couple of cheaper option or would you say it really wouldnt be worth it?

My offering:

Put in a 6 core CPU instead of the 8 core in stulids, this allowed me to add a SSD, I also opted for a different case & CPU cooler. I put in a normal 270 rather than the 270x that stulid suggested, either will be more than enough considering the resolutions you say your playing at.

Then keep the present video card for now. Spend the budget on getting a new and better (presumably?) system in, which will also provide you with the "change" kick you crave and the SSD. Pop a decent video card in down the road. My tuppence.

Thanks again guys, some good options there. A quick question, would there be a massive benefit from the Vulcan memory running at 2400Mhz?

The FX line don't benefit so much from faster ram.

But of course if the faster ram is the same price then why not go for it? But the colours aren't a great match if that matters to you
