I'm looking to get rid of my 8320 setup, I was planning to wait until new AMD are out but I don't think I can wait until February. Looking at 6600K.

I would need a Motherboard with crossfire capabilities and which I can overclock with (at least vaguely) as I'm going to be using my K2 Mount Doom for cooling. Some low profile ram.

I'm planning on keeping my current 290 and maybe getting one 2nd hand. Do you think that 2 of those would get me through another 2-3 years until I want to upgrade again or should I just get a current card?

My PSU is superflower 1000W "gold"

So, a Mobo and ram please, not sure of budget not sure how much they run.

Cheers

I have the gigabyte gaming k3 bundle with the i5 6600k and Corsair vengeance lpx 3200mhz ram. The only thing I have to say is that the ram xmp profile didn't work out the box, I had to manually increase some voltages. Don't know if more expensive boards would fare better.

Over clocking the cpu was easy though. Bios is simple to navigate and gigabytes software allows fan speeds to be configured from within Windows.

Tom's Hardware says that the best economically priced Z170 board is the ASRock Z170 Fatal1ty. I have a friend who bought one for his recent build and he is ecstatically pleased with it.

Are you really sure you want to do this? Your 8320 is no i5 as far as gaming is concerned, but it also doesn't completely suck, especially overclocked.

We know almost 100% for sure that ZEN performance per clock per core is = to Skylake and if AMD follows their usual procedure, you might get an 8 core Zen for the same price as a 6700K, effectively doubling your performance per pound spent.

Also, Kaby Lake and Z270 are around the corner. Sure, Kaby Lake has the same IPC performance as Sky Lake, so it's no big deal there, but there certainly are platform improvements which you shouldn't overlook.

If I were in your shoes I would wait for ZEN, or if money was eating a hole in my pocket I would at least go with Kaby Lake.
