Hi all,

Decided its time to upgrade my current amd 2500mobile setup and go for a nice new 939 setup.

Now i know you get what you pay for but ideally id like to do this on the cheap and will prob get as much as possible from the MM but may just buy the mobo from OCUK direct as they arent that dear expensive in the 1st place...anyway im babbling now so....

mobo must have -

4 x DDR 1 slots (i currently have 4x512mb sticks of ddr 400 ram which i want to use)

4 x Sata Ports

and i guess its time i replaced my agp 6600gt with a more upto date pci-e model so pci-e port.

leme know your suggestions guys.

ta, russ

try the asrock dual-vsta or dual-sataII boards they are cheap and you can use your existing memory and your agp card theres also a pcie 16x speed slot :)

im not sure how many sata drives can be connected tho.

Why not go Conroe?

The performance jump from 939 to Conroe is huge, and the costs aren't that much worse (pretty much the same tbh).

ill look into that matey and see what the figures pad out at

the asrock boards might be worth looking into as i only need 3 sata ports tbh

i currently have 1x120gb sata for windows etc, 2x160gb ide hdds in raid for my music and will soon be purchasing 2x250gb drives for films etc which will more than likely be sata.

If you can find anyone selling the ASRock board, let me know... I've been looking for one and the expression "hens teeth" comes to mind (as in "rare as...").

you are proabably best selling your bits and making the move to an intel dual core cpu now, if you did decide to go 939 then the DFI ultra D is a fine board that will let you clock the heck out of any chip you throw at it and is not a bad price on here
