Spec me a 980

Try to avoid the cheapest version with the old plastic 680 cooler. The latest versions from most AIBs have come a long way with cooling, with several like MSI Gaming, Asus Strix even passively cooling at idle. The silver looking reference 980 looks very nice too but the backplate has been known to trap heat hence the cutouts.

IMO I would be tempted by the EVGA FTW, it is a bit underpriced compared to others and has the highest boost clock under £500. Could even have the option of the EVGA step up programme if you register it on the EVGA website within 14 days. If NVIDIA release the successor to the 980 within 90 days then you could give yourself the option of upgrading.

That msi one really feels plasticy and looks cheap. Zotac is sweet looking I think. Also dual slot design. Palit is nice but obviously 3 slot. Good choices tho

Funny thing is the FTW edition has +160 on the boost block vs the original ACX 2.0 but is only £14 more. It's actually cheaper than the SuperClock which has less clock speed  I guess it doesn't make that much difference anyway if you can push a slider in afterburner.

I would also recommend EVGA. FTW is reasonably prices right now.

You get:
- excellent product of course,
- 5 years warranty if you register the card,
- you can sell the card with this warranty as EVGA allows transfer for second owner (hence reselling value is better),
- step up programme just in case 980ti comes in within 90 days;)
and last but not least:
- excellent customer service (EVGA allowed me to use step up outside 90 days window just to make me happy to get rid of my stuttering 970s).

The gigabyte standard wind force I got from ocuk was actually the sc version with higher clocks.

Defo recommend that as well.

Got mine running at 1549 boost core and 7950 memory. Temps under load 55c.

Evga or gigabyte always.

Price £400-£450

Needs Dual link DVI and 2 Display ports.

Run 3 monitors 2 x@1080p and 1 @1440p and use the 1440p for most games but turn all 3 to 1080p and switch to Eyefinity for Elite ect I assume Nvidia does this.

Thanks for all the replys

Nige
