spec me a ADSL router

Hi all. Need to get a decent router, noticed WiFi was down yet again last night on my bog standard talk talk dlink router, went to reset it and it was seriously hot, like could have melted hot! Doesn't work any more unsurprisingly!

Im looking for something half decent, 2 or 4 gigabit ports, and some flexibility for port forwarding etc. Looking to spend up to £40 ish?

Worth trying to get a free replacement from TalkTalk?

I read of people using the speed test on their TalkTalk accounts screen and being offered the newer designed router for free. But that may of been a limited time offer.

Probably best to request it on their support forum, to avoid being signed up for a new contact if telephone up.

I was looking at the asus DSL-N14U N300 actually, seen it for £40. Not too many reviews about though?

Not sure about getting another from talk talk, had cheapo ones for years now and fancy something a bit more solid lol

Might be worth noting that my experience of TalkTalk residential support is that they won't attempt to diagnose problems unless you are using TalkTalk hardware. I have an HG635 which I keep in a box in case support request it.

Thanks bud. I've actually got one of the huwei routers that they gave my parents so will keep hole of that in case I need to set it up
