Hi guys,

I've decided now that I have been paid I need to invest in a decent anti-virus. I want to stay clear from Norton as I don’t like the way it eats away at your computers performance. At the moment im using AVG free edition which imo, isn’t great.

Thinking of getting either Kasperspy or Trend micro but there could be a lot better out there; it's a pretty mixed bag. What you guys recommend from personal experience?

Thanks

I believe the new Norton doesn't use as much system resources although I could be wrong there.

I would personally go for Kaspersky or NOD32

This is true - I bought Norton Internet Security 2008 after reading some reviews and I've been very pleased with it :) It literally uses next to nothing and I got 3 licenses cheaper than the Kaspersky alternative.

Cheers for the comments. I went ahead and bought kaspersky... deciding factor was is that its only £19.99 (50% until tomorrow :)) So get on it anyone who needs a Anti-Virus!

If you're looking at a free product, then either Avira or Avast are highly regarded.

As for a paid anti-virus product, I would personally look at Eset NOD32. Good detection rate and very light on resources. Kaspersky is also quite highly regarded. However, I believe it's slightly heavier on the resource side compared to NOD32.
