Guys,

I need a back pack that works in two scenarios: biking, and general baby duties. Bonus points for expanding width-wise to grab some groceries on very limited occasions.

I have an old North Face Surge that expands but it is super clunky/got a billion pockets which I don't need.

I am quite keen on a roll top dry bag type setup as a style choice.

Top choices at the mo:
Rains - https://www.rains.com/collections/b...campaign=c7a3cc84-31fa-43ff-85a9-588b4dbf8f3b

Chrome MG - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HSEW...695176fe8cd4114eef1796c0514501b&tag=bonv04-21

Any obvious choices in this category?

That's interesting!

I'm a bit concerned there are so many direct to consumer brands popping up, I have no idea who to believe on how good they are.

Yeah, i guess Kickstarter etc has made it easy.

I was initially eyeing up the Tropic Feel trainers they do as a great holiday shoe, but then saw the backpack advertised. The trainers look pretty interesting i thought.

If you don't mind military colours (black, olive green or desert tan) or camo patterns, MFH do a pretty cheap expanding backpack. Several more expensive brands have similar models (and often in a wider range of colours), but you might risk going back down the billion pockets hole.

You'd find any of the actual military issued kit that's designed to take PLCE side pockets will feature a pair of zips, that also work to collapse the pack down - This then gives you options ranging from small patrol packs and day-sacks right up to massive bergans. Many have roll-top inners as well as completely removable outer top flaps. Pockets tend to be far fewer, but still spacious. Those with PALS straps on the outside allow for even more expansion and are particularly useful for quickly strapping on toys, coats, cardigans, shoes, bottles and all the other baby/toddler stuff that frequently gets dropped/discarded when you're out and about.

Thanks chaps! Have had a look at the Oxford and the EFH army bags.

The one that got me hooked was a classic direct-to-consumer marketing company trading as Stubble&Co:

Although I'm not sure 20l will do and £105 quid for an unknown company seems a bit farfetched. Reviews seem too good to be true, with the only 1 star review being an error (the text contradicts the 1 star) and a 2 star review about Brexit delivery issues.

I'm therefore thinking of going 'big' and returning to a classic brand I have owned stuff from for years (and plan to keep for life):

Christ, was gonna say let me know how it goes as i want a backpack for running/cycling to work, but balls to spending that much. I'm a poor northerner! :p

The one @Bear posted looks ideal for me though so nice one.

Other suggestion is that @AndyCr15 posted one in the purchases thread that looked a good size for a similar purpose.
