Looking to purchase a camera bag to keep everything together, also to double up as 'hand luggage' when travelling. I'm thinking shoulder bag, potentially with the option to attach it to a trolley or whatever.

My kit consists of D3100, battery, charger, 18-55, 35 1.8, 55-200 lenses, a few filters and cleaning gear. Obviously this may grow with time.

I'd like there to be enough room to accommodate new kit when the time comes, plus my iPad and other generic travel items - bottle of water, magazine etc.

I tried a few in Jessop's, and the Lowepro Nova 200AW caught my eye. It's spacious, customisable, and not too big to travel with:

It can be picked up for around £55 most places atm, down from around £70.

Can anybody suggest any alternatives that may suit, or have personal experience of the Lowepro 200? I'd like to keep it within the ~£50 bracket.

Thanks in advance.

I've got a ThinkTank Retrospective 30 which is a fantastic and well thought out bag. It doesn't look like a camera bag, which is something that appealed to me.

Kata and Tamrac come to mind.

Tamrac are usually better made than Lowepro but heavier due to all the extra padding, they have a range of thin shoulder bags which would take that kit and more.

Kata are lighter because they put tiny holes in the padding, not sure if it makes it any less protected but I'm not taking the risk with my gear. Again they have a range of shoulder bags that don't look like a camera bag but aren't as thin as the Tamrac offerings.

I have the 20, which takes my body, speedlite. 70-200 2.8. 17-55. 50mm and plenty of spare room. It also takes my ipad in the back pocket :)

Obviously the 30 has more room and if I was going to be carrying more than 4 lenses I'd get the 30 :) Fantastically well built bags and blow the lowepro out the park.

I'm actually considering backpacks now too. Going to hopefully take a trip over to Jessops or somewhere tomorrow and test a few.

I have several bags. None of which I'm happy with. A decent one is the Lowpro event messenger 150. You can fit the camera in if you have no lens attached, with two medium sized lenses tucked in the side with one laying on top of the camera. Handy size wise and I'm actually using it all the time to take my camera to work with me in the hope I see something on the way there/home.

Personally I want a bag that's like the event 150 but wider so I can attach a lens, then have 2 more with a flash. That'd be perfect. I'll have a nose at the event 250.

Ive got the lowepro nova 200 and the strap on it really isn't very comfy if you intend to pack the bag full of gear. Its only padded in 1 small section of the strap, which coincidently tends not to sit on your shoulder unless you have the bag parallel to your waist (not exactly idea for walking around all day). Due to that, I'd probably get a shoulder bag instead which has room for other important stuff like food and drink for long journeys or days out.

I'm eyeing up the Nikon crumpler style bag thats around £50 on ebay. It can even fit my 13 inch laptop into it + food and most of my camera gear, making it a nice option!

Yes I actually picked up the Lowepro Nova 200, but I'm heading back into town soon to swap it for something else. The bag itself is very clever, very versatile and plenty of pockets etc, but as you say the strap is quite uncomfortable.

I think a small/med size backpack will suit me better as it can accommodate more when on days out etc or when travelling.
