if your using a pen many hours each day you atleast want something that feels and performs good. A flexgrip or bic use cheap ink and do not perform or feel well on paper, they do the job but not at the level you would want. Them smudges and blotches of ink do not look very professional.
Having used them for countless HP forms, insurance forms, invoices, financial papers and many many shopping lists over the last 40+ years, I can confirm that they don't.
They don't leave splodges and write much smoother than a lot of the more expensive options, including parker and they remain consistent until visibly empty. Sad but true.
So true Turtles Bics are terrible.. They require too much pressure to be put on the paper and totally ruin the paper if you need to write on the other side. They are also are not very consistent with leaving ink on the paper, is hard to explain but when writing with them they don't give a very constant flow.. probably due to the amount of pressure needed for them to actually make a mark properly.
A Berol handwriting pen is 100x better than a Bic! Even if a Berol handwriting pen can bleed over to the other side of the page if you leave it in one position for too long.
Pilot Hi-Tec are good but they take a few minutes to dry and are so prone to smudges. With the way I write I cannot use them as I end up smudging the line above I just wrote.
Papermate is pretty good dries quite quickly and doesn't need too much pressure to write!
But what do I know.. a college teacher once told me I had the writing of a 7 year old
