Not sure if games like this even exist any more....... but I remember a long time ago playing a game called warzone2100. It was in some-ways like C&C from what I remember, but you built a base that you always kept i.e not like DoW/C&C where you always build a new one for each mission you begin. Are there any games like this where you can build a base research improvement , weaponry etc for it or do they just not exist any more. I can remember WZ2100 being a really kick ass game when I played it all those years ago

I used to love Warzone2100. I had it on playstation I think. I used to love making my own tank designs, and I really liked how my base stayed as you mentioned.

As of a game that exists today that has the same concept I dont know. Sorry.

Starcraft 2's campaign is kiiinda like this.. the missions are different, in which you choose which one you do, be it base building or covert style. but after each mission you earn credits for different tasks you complete. you can then use credits to buy upgrades for your units on the battlefield, or for research into new units or building addons etc.

I have heard of WZ but i've never actually played it, so not quite sure what you mean. hope that helped! :)

yeah good game i remember it well especially designing your own units.

Cant think of a single modern rts that keeps base building or focuses on it.

i think i still have the cds for it i might try and dig it out, see just how bad my memory is

Wasn't there one called Perimeter? I seem to remember that had quite a bit of base building and fairly recent. Also what about something like the Stronghold castle building series?

warzone was the dogs.

earth 2150 was good, very like it (customizing units etc) you could even make trenches/mounds for defense and it had customizable defensive structures but you did change map-every round.

I know it's not rts but it kind of is give anno 1404 a crack other than that I'd say supreme commander
