My mother will be going away for a few months for part of her job and she would like a laptop to be able to send emails and use a webcam and such to communicate with us frequently, so i need some help choosing a suitable laptop around the £400 mark, but cheaper is still better.

Needs to be reliable and simple to use, as my mother is can not diagnose and fix problems, so it has to work and stay working. Ive never used a webcam so not sure if its graphics intensive or not, but there will be no gaming or HD movies being played on it. It just needs to be a simple windows machine with the basics.

I have a lenovo myself, but seeing the ammount of extras and lenovo stuff (which some of is ok imo, but a lot is useless to me) that would not be suitable. So im looking for a brand that doesnt come with tons of extra stuff (and preferably doesnt require a format and reinstall to do so).

yeh the asus Eee looks great for travel/light use ....also great for free skype calls for keeping in touch

they are only a third of the weight of a normal laptop and pretty much shockproof so you can pop it in a bag knowing its gonna be ok and not weigh u down too much

i shall be ordering one over the next few days,im just waiting for the black version!
