I've currently got a small crappy light in our bathroom and I'm looking to change it for something a lot brighter and stylish. Has anyone fitted one recently that fits the bill? Also, can I fit the light myself? The light falls into Zone 2.

It depends what type of light your looking for. Is it just a standard Batten lamp Holder? Are you looking to install a singular fitting or downlights?

If your confident then yes there is no issue with fitting a light but it gets complicated where you need to ensure your circuit is RCD protected.

As it's inside zone 2 then make sure the fitting(s) meets the IP requirements and is suitable for the environment.

Common sense really.

Actually ditto to this tread. This was one of the jobs I had to do since the day we moved in.. about 5 years ago. Far from Mr DIY but recently changed a plug socket and back box so feel ready to move on. :p

We recently had ours redone and got:

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_In...ng_Bathrooms_Index/Shower_Lighting/index.html (Fire Rated - Mains Halogen IP65 Shower Downlights)

TLC are pretty good, there's always trade people in there as they've very reasonable (and cheaper than B&Q/Homebase etc). They deliver if there isn't one near you.

I'd get someone to fit them though as there are certain intricacies with the lighting and whether the power needs stepping down etc.
