Hey,

I need a pc for a file server and to place under my tv to watch films. I have found this:

CPU:AMD Athlon II Neo dual-core processor K325
Chipset:NVIDIA nForce 520 LE chipset
RAM:2GB
HDD:500GB
Optical Drive:BluRay Combo
TV Tuner: Digital Tuner
Slot1:802.11 B/G/N

I was wondering if you guys could spec me a better self build, it could do with being quiet and with a Blu-ray burner. Needs to be a decent multitasker all for £400 ish. It doesnt need to have the OS or screen or mouse and keyboard.

Thanks!

i would remove the competitor link because your not allowed to link to competitors here

*edit*
now the competitor link has gone, i'll just say that the above spec is an Acer Revo before someone suggests you get one

hmm, seeing that no one has recommended anything for you i'll give it a bash.

also, bear in mind that if you make 30 more posts, and wait for a month you will get free delivery, saving you ~£14 (they charge VAT on the delivery)

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Llano A8-3850 2.90GHz (Socket FM1) APU Processor (AD3850WNGXBOX) with FREE DIRT3 PC Game £100.79
1 x MSI A75MA-G55 AMD Hudson D3 (Socket FM1) DDR3 Llano MIcro-ATX Motherboard £71.99
1 x LG BH10LS30 10x BluRay-RW / 16 x DVD±RW Drive & 10 Pack BluRay Discs £71.96
1 x OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply £44.99
1 x OcUK Opera Media Case - Black £39.98
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX) £29.99
1 x Corsair Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low Voltage Dual-Channel Kit £23.98
Total : £397.78 (includes shipping : £11.75).

the only problem with this build is the case. OcUK are very short on HTPC cases

- 1 x VGA port
- 1 x HDMI port
- 1 x DVI-D port

What do you mean by multitasking? If you want a bit more grunt from the CPU then consider i3-2100 Sandy Bridge & Radeon HD5450 video card for smoother Blu Ray playback than using the I3-2100 integrated graphics.

For a system that'd only be used as a server/media player you'd be better off with AMD Zacate. Much lower power consumption and flawless 1080p video playback.
