I have a Boardman HT Comp that was purchased from Halfords.

I need a service before the weather improves but wondering where is best.

Halfords have a bike plan for an annual charge of £29.99 but does not include fork or comprehensive brake servicing.

Would I be best to go for this as the bike is from Halfords or can anyone recommend a bike shop in the Newcastle/Gateshead area instead?

The other option is buying a how to book and attempting it myself but the last time I serviced a bike it had canti brakes and rigid forks!

get it to evans cycles or your local LBS(supporting local lbs is always a good idea) and ask for a service :) don't bother with halfords from what I've seen monkeys work there unable to tell a difference between carbon fork an alu one.

There are loads of useful guides online.
Parktool have lots of great info. Youtube as well.

I would have a go at servicing it yourself first.
Even if you find that you cant do it, you were going to take it to a shop anyway so you havnt lost anything.

yeah I agree with touch I always service my own bikes but it's up to you! :) simple service is not that difficult.. and youtube is stuffed with tutorials on how-to-do-it

if you dont want to do suspension yourself then look at a service by the likes of tftuned. but you will need to remove the forks and send them off.
