Spec me a bluetooth car speaker.

As per title folks.

Not for me, its for my dad. He had a Bluetooth super buddy (these are about 25 quid on the rainforest) for a number of years but the battery has had its day. I could get another one but has this tech type moved on in 13 years?

I dont want one where the whole unit plugs into the car lighter socket. car lighter socket is next to the gearstick, one of those will interfere with gear changes.

Said car is an 18 year old Ford Galaxy. Bog standard Ford double din unit, changing it would result in the unit being worth more than the car
I have a Ford too, my headunit packed up a couple of months ago. I replaced it with a 3rd party (Pioneer) as a 2nd hand replacement wouldn't have a warranty, I would need the code for it so that could end up costing extra. I wanted bluetooth as well so I thought it was worth paying a bit more and its been useful.

As usual the world's most popular search engine only puts what it wants you to see in its first few pages, not the answer you want. Top answer is either wiki or the rainforest.

/\/\ as I stated in my OP that type is not suitable for dad's car. The ciggy lighter power socket sits in a recess next to the gear stick. You wouldn't be able to change gear with that plugged in.

/\/\/\ I'll have to check to see if there is an AUX port in his car. I did say that I have a Ford too, the AUX port on mine is next to the gear lever. Trouble with mine is when I change gear the sound cuts out.

No. Mum is in a lot of pain with her right hip. Doctors have prescribed painkillers but its not solving the problem. She's started a course of treatment with a Chiropractor. I'm hoping my Nephew will be able to help her as he's about to graduate with his masters degree in Physiotherapy.

im a tad confused, if your car has Bluetooth, why not just buy an ordinary Bluetooth speaker?

I'll clear this up, save your confusion.
Both my car and dad's did not have BT as standard, we both had BT superbuddy's. Mine packed up years ago due to lack use so I bought a BT car adapter I could plug into my cars aux-in socket (I've bought 2 as the 1st one packed up, posted a negative review on Amazon, got a refund as a result when the seller contacted me and a deal was done ) didn't work that well as the sound would cut out when I changed gear. My car's car stereo packed up a couple of months ago so I replaced it with one that had BT built-in and not a Ford one so I dont need a code for it.

Dad's BT superbuddy's now packed up so he wants another BT car speaker. Didnt really want to buy another direct replacement, interweb reviews are sporadic or not recent. Hence me asking for advice here.

So what you're after is a Bluetooth adapter? If so, that changes things, the market is stuffed to the gills with them.

What aux sockets does your dad's radio have?

There's none on the stereo itself, someone here did say its supposed to be in the glove compartment. I doubt it though.
Dad is 86 years old (almost). he'll want a BT speaker just like his old BT superbuddy. power via giggy lighter socket, clips on the sunvisor, job done.

I was going to buy one for his BD (Friday) I've bought something else for him for that. It's not going to get much use anyway, A lot of his driving is local. I do the medium long distance driving these days.

Thanks for that, However dad is not tech savvy, when he gets stuck with tech he'll do three things. 1st = ask me. 2nd = when I'm not around (at work) he'll guess so he breaks it. 3 = no patience, so get's angry and frustrated so he'll break it.

No hope of him operating a android unit, no point in replacing battery in the old BT speaker, he'd rather buy a new one and recycle.
