Long story short, three panels (both passenger side doors and rear panel) on our golf are scratched after an unfortunate parking garage incident last night and we're working out the cheapest way (long run) of getting it fixed.

We could go through insurance but I'm sure that'll whack the renewal price up a fair bit for the next few years (incidentally, is there any way to check this, bunging details into confused.com or similar?)

It's a black golf with pearlescent paint - does that throw a spanner into the works?

Thank you, motors posters, for any help you can provide (would cheer the wife up!)

I can recommend Coven Body Repair, their work is fantastic. Based West of Wolverhampton, and you can expect to get an expensive quote from them.

Shorade Accident Repair in Cannock. I have used them previously and they are simply exceptional but be preparred to pay for that and they typically won't carry out insurance repairs as many insurers wont pay their prices. If you want a world class service and paint job then I would reccomend you check them out. As an example, this is how clean their body shop is!

Stay away from:

Blackwells (although it may have changed name recently (again)) in Telford (completely crap)

&

Steven's in Market Drayton (over priced and not great)

gs unwin did the repair on my car, when some fool in a pickup truck hit it. Did a really perfect job.

Located at Halesfield in Telford.

Another vote for Sharades, my Mum used them when she dinged her Cooper.. she said they were fantastic.

Spa bodyshop in Leamington Spa. Premesis is nothing to write home about but the work is first class and they quite like folding money. ;)

Thanks for all the replies, we have a range of quotes now from £450+ vat and 2 door trims (coven) to around £800 inc. vat at willenhall coachcraft (VW stealership).

To be honest, all the quotes came in under what we had initially suspected it may cost, still, I think we'll try and avoid doing the same thing again! Now just need to have a look at what claiming would do to insurance so we can decide to pay with savings (not like they are doing us much good at the moment) or not.
