i've just finished reading Atlantis by David Gibbins and it's kinda stirred my interest to get another book. it wasn't the most thrilling read but i just want to read another book now so i don't end up putting it off again for so long....

i like....

lord of the rings, hobbit, da vinci code.

kinda like...

Atlantis.

i'm not a big fan of romance books but i like fantasy books but not weird humour ones like monty python etc. i'm not particulary keen on harry potter either as i've watched one film and couldn't stand it.

any suggestions as i have no idea who a good author is any more....

If you like Sci-Fi, then check out Peter F Hamilton. The Nights Dawn Trilogy is good, as are the other series he has written.

cheers for the suggestions... will have a look for some of them. any books in particular from those authors?

also are there any comical books which are maybe satire as well... im thinking maybe romantic comedy type books but not heavy stuff. the reason i ask is i'm relating books to film, so stuff like notting hill, about a boy etc i liked and found funny. stuff like 40 year old virgin and american pie i love on film but unsure how that translates into a book?

You might like the Wheel of Time books if you like the Hobbit/LotR (the start of the first book very similar to FotR). I thought the first few books were very good but then it kinda loses its way.

I'm about to start on the Northern Lights trilogy, loads of people have told me it's great.
