Spec me a brilliant single player

Oh yeah - Psychonauts

Get it off Steam, its cheap

It's something really quite amazing, and is created by very talented people who have a passion for not just a game but an experience. It may look like a cartoon but it's not really a kids game.

i just started a download for overlord as well, was recommended this for a good fun game, worth my time?

p.s. all suggestions have been set, will have them all tomorrow hopefully :)

You dont read the blurb of a book and know for sure how you might feel after reading all of it. Bioshock apparently has some amazing storylines and plot twists.. it wouldnt be getting 90+% from all reviewers if it wasnt any good. It may still be an FPS, but its going to be a damn good one.

Yes but a demo is designed to give a general gist of the gameplay of the final game. And from what i played i didn't like it. The only thing that impressed me was the graphics. Everything i played had been done better in other games. System Shock 2 owns this game in my opinion.

all right, installed overlord this morning, just been playing through it, graphics are awsome and its evil fun lol

i would rec it for midless fun, good game to pick up and just throw around. although its not one to be played non stop as it isnt all that serious in the game if you know what i mean. ive almost got Need for speed carbon done, ill give that a shot when its done, told this is brilliant.....

a few other games that have been recommended are also being downloaded :D

ill give feedback.

cheers guys :D without you lot id be bored to hell right now :D:D

i really enjoyed overlord, occasionally found the controls a little frustrating (camera seemed to get stuck sometimes while sweeping minions around) but overall a lot of fun, got far more hours out of it than the reviews suggested.

Another mention for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Best script and voice acting in any game I've played. If it had gone out with patch 1.2 it would be widely regarded as one of the finest PC RPGs ever. Unfortunately the reviewers got a semi-broken mess with show-stopping bugs. If there was any justice, the game would be re-published and resubmitted for reviewing.

AVP & AVP2
Resident Evil 4 (better on wii tho :))
Metal Gear Solid
Final Fantasy 7
Chronicals of Riddick <<--- you have to play this if you havent already
Warcraft 3 + TFT
Rainbow 6 vegas
System Shock+System Shock 2

A mention against Vampire Bloodlines from me, despite being a great game potentially the game is ruined by bugs to the point of being unplayable. I got over half way through the game only discover that a bug meant the game couldn't be coninued and the only way to get past it was to restart and hope for the best

Now i've heard theres a community patch or something that fixes this so i may go back one day and finish this flawed gem.

I take your point but this is three years after release now and the bugs have been resolved for a very long time so posting against that choice for that reason is, well, unreasonable in my opinion.

The op would be very well advised to get hold of this now as its ridiculously cheap.

it's such a shame that white wolf studios went out of business.

edit: i have been corrected - it was troika that went bust...tragedy.

cheers,

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is a very good game I'll admit.

Even better was Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption

Sadly it won't install on Vista 64.

Oh and Bloodlines can be had on Steam for a tenner.

It's actually the Bloodlines developer, Troika, that went out of business. I think the makers of EVE Online now have the rights to White Wolf based games.

Regarding the game itself, I did come across one game-stopping bug after patch 1.2 involving a barred door. If anyone has the same problem, simply reloading from a save game solves it.

The unofficial patches are up to about 3.9 or 4.0 now. If you use them you can choose between a simple bug fixing unofficial patch or a version that restores content cut out of the original game. Bear in mind that if you install an unofficial patch you need to start the game from scratch because old saved games can get a little 'confused'.

. Close thread.

ok ok, so ive been playing overlord a lot today lol, its just so funny "look master, coins you master!!" then send the little minions to their death, best feature of the minions (which i think without this would have given the game much less fun to it) is the random pickus the goblins get to plant on them selves... saw a minion wear a rat on his head, dont know why, just cracked me up lol

but getting the same thing i got in dirt on track races, some lag, where frames would drop considerably until i walked around a little bit... loading most likely :(

anyway, seems the most mentioned 3 games that i DONT have is

Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
and Rainbow 6 vegas

although a few people have said that these games are very bugged, but so brilliant lol.... always the way huh :p

anyone got any screenies? vids? youtube possibly, just a general background of them so i can choose which of them to play first :D

p.s. might install riddick, seems you lot love it, so might as well give it a shot.

ags

Riddick's stunning. To say that this pre-dated both Doom 3 and Half-Life 2, the graphics are amazing (probably better than either). Soft shadows still are a huge hit on modern cards.

The voice-acting is very well done (xzibit, Dwight Schultz and VD of course). Diesel manages to sound like a proper tough guy without being irritating.

There are frustrating sections (the pit for one) though and it has a very adult theme (lots of strong language and graphical violence).
