We barely use a PC in our house these days as most media consumption is done via iPhones and SmartTV.

However I do like a PC on hand for:
  • Tinkering with the NAS
  • Tinkering with the router
  • Basic Office365 work
  • Basic editing of photos and music
We bought in to the hype of a Surface Pro but soon realised the "floppy" nature of it is a nightmare for sitting on the couch. I use a Dell Latitude 6430u for work and I'd rather use that any day and often generally reach for it rather than my own personal Surface Pro.

Spec wise:
  • Would like a nice resolution screen
  • SSD a must and dont care if its relatively small as we work directly from network attached storage
  • Generally nice and responsive but we dont play games or do any heavy CPU work so doesnt need to be a beast
So if I sell up, what is a decent laptop for say £400-600 that fits my needs?

Get q Lenovo Ideapad 5 with a Ryzen 4000 processor. If you spec one up with 8gb RAM and a Ryzen 4500u that should come well within your budget and fly through anything you throw at it
