Spec me a build? <£600

This is my first build I put together last week.

4GB Kingston Hyper X 1066Mhz RAM - link

So far multitasking has been amazingly good (i've got 16 windows open at the moment including photoshop cs3 and canon digital photo proffesional and there's literally no slowdown) it also runs cad software smoothly too, and this is with integrated graphics!

It also has support for HD movies, though you'll need to add a blu ray drive unless you download you're films, and has an integrated HDMI socket along with realtek high definition audio.

oh and the total cost was around £370 :D
Although i am complete noob, but how is it possible that you are running that with no gxf card? is it all down to the mobo?
For photo editing surely you need a gxf card?! same goes for photoshop.... i dont understand?

It will fit but I think for that price there are better coolers around.

Do you need a CPU to go with that setup as well? Are you going to overclock? If not then the stock cooler is perfectly fine unless you want it abosolutely silent.

Ah missed you there, didnt think anyone would be awake so i edited it slightly, yeah i added cpu.....
no overclock btw

Ram is so cheap, do you reckon I should go for 6gb?!

4gb is plenty although some prefer having 8gb, with your budget though I think it's out of the question.

I came up with:

I assume you already have a HDD since you didn't spec one in? How about an optical drive?

That X3 tri core will work in that mobo although you need to be sure it has 1401 BIOS version or it may not work, you either need to contact ocuk tech or borrow a cheap AM2 cpu to flash the bios yourself.

Question 1 - Forget the budget for a sec, will the Evga gtx 260 fit into my Antec Fusion remote MAX case?

Question 2 - My chosen mobo has hdmi out, and my chosen gfx has dvi, which one do i connect my big screen to? the hdmi slot on the mobo right? but wont this bypass the gfx card? does anyone know what i mean?

1. From the pics of the fusion case it looks like there's just enough room for a 260 but I think it's going to be a tight fit.

2. You are right by conncecting your plasma to the mobo HDMI you default the primary graphics adapter to the onboard integrated one and thus the GFX card won't be used. If you need the gfx power (for when you use auto cad for example) it's best to just disable the onboard integrated graphics all together and use the DVI port on the GFX card instead. It doesn't have to be HDMI as I'm pretty sure any half decent plasma nowadays will support VGA/DVI video in and both will do 1920x1080. However if it has to be HDMI then you might need to get hold of a DVI to HDMI adapter as some GFX cards don't come with them.

That's the case for NV cards I believe but the newest generation ATI cards have built in sound chip that supports audio over HDMI even if it requires a DVI to HDMI adapter. I think that's how it works anyway, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think I am going for the last spec I posted, but I shall be buying from competitor as its £100 cheaper.
As for monitor, I will most likely be going for the Samsung SM2433BW 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor

that motherboard has integrated ATI HD3200 graphics, so it copes with hd video and photoshop no problems.

OK, its time.
But I've had thoughts of just buying a £800 Sony laptop from a certain high street store instead.......

Because my spec is 6 weeks old, I heard that there is a new CPU that just came out that I should look into....
