Hey guys,

Ive been toying with the idea of a new system for when i get Windows 7,

I was looking at an SSD for the prim drive with a Raptor as a 2nd drive, ( im iffy about putting my OS on another raptor seeing as i had 1 arrive DOA and another died on me, anyway

I was looking at

Has anyone personally got one, i see a lot of people saying wait until the next gen comes out etc,

I havent really been keeping uptodate with hardware in the long run, my current CPU is an x6800 extreme, how does this chip compare to the new i7's ( if it can even compare to them )

I also run 2 x 8800GTX's, although i dont plan to go SLI with a new build, should i just use one of the 8800's or replace it with something newer,

What about motherboards / ram etc

I have a 1000w PC power and cooling PSU, and i plan to re-use my case, so its no biggy there.

I have also toyed with the idea of water cooling is it worth it, the room my comp is in, can get hot esp if the system is on all day, even with a fan on in the room it can get toasty.

As for Price, lets say around £500-1200

The system will be for gaming mainly, from MMO to FPS

Thanks in advance for your time guys.

Hi. I use an SSD for operating system and main programs and i definitely recommend them.

The only thing you should check before buying is if the manufacturer has firmware updates available. The issue surrounding decreased performance is being addressed by most, but not all manufacturers.

I, regrettably, did not research enough and bought on OCZ summit series drive, which uses a Samsung controller. Whilst Samsung are shipping their own drives with performance recovery features, they are not (as yet) providing firmware updates for other models, such as OCZ Summit. That said, the performance is still outstanding and i am not a particularly heavy user so might be ok.

You should check up on the Samsung you have in mind.

As for the rest... I am yet to own an Intel system so will leave that to others...
