Hey, here's my current spec!

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz
*will go with new build

Memory: 8Gb OCZ Gold Ed.
*will go with new build

Hard Drive: 3Tb Total w/ Raid boot etc.
*will keep, but may add an SSD, dependant on budget!

Video Card: Sapphire ATi Radeon 5870 1Gb
*definately keeping!

Monitor: LG M227WD & LG 226WTQ
*keeping

Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Xtreme-Music
*keeping

Operating System: Windows 7 64Bit
*keeping

Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS4
*would like to get rid of

Computer Case: Antec 900
*if i did go watercooling, im debating the Corsair 800D case which everyone seems to be raving about, mainly due to the space! (i also saw OcUK do a WC build for around £416 odd which seemed ok for the price?

Power Supply: Hyper 650 (or 750) supply
* should be fine unless i go xFire im told, but wouldn't be immediately, and if i did then this would be changed!

Peripherals: All obtained already, so literally just mobo, cpu, ram, perhaps case & watercooling components!

I'm going to have around £1k to play with (though probably wont spend it all), and would like to do a decent upgrade and then look at either going for a phenom or an i7!
Now i've never done any sort've of watercooling before, but i'd definately like to go into it just because i have the money to do so now, but obviously have literally no idea where to start! It doesn't help things that i'm not sure which way to move on next mobo/cpu/ram combo, but i'm hoping some of you could give me some suggestions? I imagine going on an amd cpu would be more cost effective, plus if i wanted to go crossfire later on, i imagine more amd boards will be supporting it, as that seems to be the general way of things!

Thanks a lot, and hope you can help

Matt

p.s how much would you think i would get for the mobo/cpu/ram combo if i sold it? i could perhaps include the Noctua cooler, but dependant on if i go for air or water cooling! this would obviously help towards the budget, though the next problem would be finding someone to buy it!

this is the sort've idea i had in mind, would obviously like to OC it, and eventually add a block onto the car, perhaps NB too if needed?

I'm afraid we can only do that in the members market, price check area.

I have done some main components below, I would look at buying watercooling parts individually as this may save you some pounds.

seems to be good, slightly over budget, but selling old components would bring it down!

just out of interest RJC, i've searched through all the forum categories, and cannot seem to find a members market you speak of? is there something i'm missing?

any suggestions welcomed, and i guess i'm out of room for the SSD for now! (dependant on this market thing to be honest!)

edit: by the way, if i went for that pre-watercooled case, it actually saves me £11 by the looks of my calculations (unless i've missed something?!?)

Addicted, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

that would be why :(

do i have to have a certain amount of posts or anything? i've certainly been on the forums long enough! :(

edit: just seen, 250 posts req's, shame i should be able to really with my time here, but i guess i'll have to get spamming! :(

iirc theres two things you can do to have access to MM
1. be a member for 90 days with 250+ posts
2. be member for 1 year with 99+ posts

maybe you still have to activate your trust :D

i'm definately that, as i have the free postage, i've now just activated trust, so will wait and see!
but in the mean time i am gaining post count :)

Hehe, best thing to do is keep nice and active, with a few little inputs here and there, and it rockets ;)

gained a fair few posts since this thread was started, should be there soon :) not even just useless posts (some maybe though :p )

woohoo's! i also got a few questions i might as well ask in here!
which size tubing should i be going for, is what i chose ok? i may extend to nb/gfx when funds allow!
also are the connectors ill be using fine for the task?

I ain't a wc expert, but how about THESE? These fittings are more secure than the ones you selected, so less prone to leaks, but you'll need tubing like THIS. There'll not be much diffrence in the performance i'd guess, as these have 1/16th thinner diameter than the tubing you picked :)

I'd go for clear tho :)

Yes thats clear tubing, and you'll be fine. I'd say order 3 lots of the tubing, should be about 3 meters, as you can always make mistakes :p

And for adding to the loop, you'll be fine, just got to 're-plan' the route, but always remember, once its full, its gotta be drained! :)
