I'm looking to move from my old, old gaming laptop to a desktop, have peripherals, so it's just the box and what goes in it.

I'm specifically looking for something *quiet* (it's on all day for work). Usage gaming-wise is generally modded minecraft, MMOs and similar, but I'd like this to last, I might even end up playing Star Citizen on it one day. My monitor is a 2560x1440 asus, and I intend to get a 21" 1080p second monitor to replace the laptop (can't live without the second screen...), so two HDMI out would be good. Gaming could be at 1080p if driving that monitor would be too expensive.

Budget is flexible, £500-£1000. I'd rather get the right machine than scrimp, but equally don't want to overspend without reason :-)

It's a Asus PB278Q 27-inch Widescreen LED Multimedia Monitor (2560x1440, 5ms, VGA, DVI-D, DisplayPort, HDMI), so no gsync/freesync sadly, but it does have displayport.

If having either of the sync options makes a big difference, I could consider replacing my main monitor as I've got someone this one could go to..

It's very subjective. Some people don't care about it, others can't live (game) without it. Only reason I asked was because you'd need an Nvidia GPU to use Gsync on a Gsync monitor whereas a Freesync monitor could handle Freesync with both Nvidia and AMD. Wasn't my intention to get you to spend more. Maybe look out for those features for next monitor upgrade.

Will do a spec once weekly offers change, supposed to happen today, maybe it's an issue on my end.

Nice spec. I like the case too.

Although the Mech OC is tempting at that price it didn't review well, and there's still a bit left in budget for a better model like:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £765.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

If the second drive is just for storage don't bother with hybrid. In fact, if you don't need more than 1TB (SSD) rightaway, then wait, as your next additional drive may end up being an SSD as well if prices continue coming down. Mechanical drives and quiet don't go so well together.

A better cooler will make it more quiet than the stock cooler:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £992.94 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Thank you... any last tweaks/comments from anyone? Kinda ready to buy :)

Gigabyte OC - better card :) steal of a price.

MSI Carbon AC with Wifi is the better board- VRMs are arranged differently along with more chokes . and then you've got wifi

Nice price for the Gigabyte NVMe- matches Sata 3 1tb units

Well I've just been told the staff are very busy today and the weekly offers haven't been updated yet. If you wait you may catch better deals, though at the same time some current deals like the one on that SuperFlower 550W PSU will end. It also looks like overall, the best value for money should be on Black Friday itself.
