Currently running an Abit IP35 + Q6600 and looking to upgrade
Looking for an upgrade & would like to stay with Intel possibly to an i7 set up/is this the way to go or not?
I need
Mobo, Memory & CPU.
My existing CPU cooler should (I hope) fit, an Akasa Venum AK-ccx-4002.HP
Budget £350 /£400
Poss Overclockers Bundles, but what one ???
Suggestions/recommendations please
Have tried Members Market, not much luck.
Thanks in advance
Syd

What's the intended use? Are your HD/DVD drives SATA? Any future plans to crossfire/SLI or do you prefer single card setups?

If it's just for gaming then the i5 2500K is the way to go.

Also I'm having a hard time finding out if the Akasa Venom supports socket 1155. Do you have the other brackets that came with it still? It won't work with the same bracket you're using with your socket 775.

don't go bundle, buy seperates and do the overclock yourself. its not that difficult, all it takes is a couple of 'clicks' depending on the motherboard.

Thanks, now sorted

:cool:Have just bought from MM
An i7-2600k retail cpu(3yr Warranty), gigabyte p67a-ud4 b3 motherboard, 8GB(2x4gb) 1600mhz Kingston Hyper X Ram and a Noctua DH14 cooler for £400All boxed and under guarantee with receipts. Chip is currently running at 4.6Ghz and profile is also saved on board.

the d14 and only 4.6ghz? if thats all you wanted a tranquilo would have been the cheaper choice. you really need to push the boat out a bit more if you have the d14 :)
