Hi, my A64 dual core has packed in and I need a replacement quick. I want something to perform well that I can overclock and I want 4gb ram, but I want it as cheap as poss.

What combination you got that will work good? I've never setup a C2D system before is it easy? Is it easy to overclock as a A64? What CPU cooler too.

EDIT: Only need a mobo that has PCI-E dont need no SLI or CROSSFIRE malark.

the freezer 7 pro is a great cooler.. some say its not good for quads but its cooled my quad enough to get it to 3ghz from 2.4

Also i hear nothing but great reviews for the tuniq tower

CPU should opveclock to something like 3.2GHz easily with that cooler, but might be a stretch for anything more as it not a top end cooler.

Yes we all like things cheap as possible, but give us an idea what your budget is. If you built your A64 dual core and set it up, you should have no problems. There are plenty of people on the forum to help you if you get stuck.

Try this combo, the obo is pretty decent and very cheap and the cooler is fantastic, outperforming the freezer 7 in reviews i read and ive got one now, keeps my 3.2Ghz E6750 at 25 degrees idle :)

Wow thats very cheap, should I just go and order that now? Was expecting to spend £300-£400 lol. I don't have a price limit but I only use it for windows/watch TV HD and some gaming nout intense (only have a X1800xt).

That ram is out of stock, can I just get the OCZ £10 more equivalent and work fine? OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK)

Before you go out and buy it....................................... hang on!!

The Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 was launched yesterday and is already available in the UK for £54.92 inc vat. This is a 2.5Ghz Wolfdale cored 45nm cpu with 2mb L2 cache and a 12.5x multiplier. It has double the cache of the E2*** series and should clock better and run cooler too. I would get one of these over a E2*** or even a E4*** series anyday. The pricing also makes the pricing of the other two a joke. OCUK has dropped the ball on these as several other retailers have them in stock.

Thank you! Will it work in this combination?

Have'nt a clue about that mobo. I certainly would'nt touch it with a bargepole. The 650i chipset was never that good and it is very old nowadays. That one does'nt even have Sli so don't buy it just because it's cheap. Far better chipsets available now such as a Intel P31/35 or P43/45. P3* series mobo's can be picked up very resonably now.

There's a couple in "B" Grade (product sale) too. A P5K Pro for £48 which is a bargain and a P35 DS3L for £42. The only thing with "B" Grade is that you may only get the board with no accessories.

Right so just ordered this.
