Spec me a Camera £600

I am only starting photography as I have always wanted to but never had the money for a high quality SLR

I am well experienced in Photoshop and Sony Vegas and would love to get some of my own photos and videos. Budget £600. I have been looking at the 550D with the 18-55mm lens kit and it seems to be what I'm looking for. Need the pros' thoughts and advice first though. Cheers

I just got myself deal with an upcoming band so will be recording some of their performances and being taking photos for them

I think the 600d should be perfect for this and can anyone recommend and good tripod to accompany it? Any further thoughts? Cheers
