Hey all,

With my recent 40D purchase I've been looking at getting more gear before the inevitable save for the first L lens. However I feel I need a bag and a mono/tripod first.

Budget for both is ~£100-120 I have been looking at Lowepro series of bags and I'm somewhat torn between a quick access bag or a full blown camera bag (which I could attach a tripod to) The Lowepro 400AX *ithink* caught my eye last night on the ol' rainforest.

With regards to the mono/tripod issue I can appreciate the pros and cons of each, with the mono being considerably more portable and easier to work with than the tripod, but then it does not have the same stability the tripod does. I had a shot of a couple Manfrottos in Jessops the other day and I liked the kind of budget mono (£25) and the budget "film" tripod (~£50 had a holdy trigger thing I thought was nifty, pod would mainly be used for animal/landscapes/night-sky photography.

Since I know next to zilch about these things I thought I would turn to the collective mass for assistance and ridicule (probably not in that order ;))

If you want new, I'd go for a Redsnapper tripod/head combo, and a Lowepro Slingshot bag...which one is determined by how much gear you have. I personally have the 302, because I like the flexibility of a larger bag. I can easily carry my 7D with or without grip attached, along with all 3 lenses, 2 flashguns, and all the accessories and still have space to spare.

Does is come with any form of padding or separation?

I've been looking at the Lowepro Flipside 400 AW for a bag and the Hama 00004214 for a tripod. a lot of the loe budget manfrotto reviews state that it is incredibly flimsy fully extended and it can't get low for macro like the Hama.
