After relying on my rubbish phone camera for years I fancy getting a proper camera. I'm looking for something fairly small and around £200ish. I'll mainly be using it when I'm out mountain biking or walking so don't want anything too big or heavy!

I've been looking around and the Canon S95 seems good for the money. Are there any other alternatives worth looking at?

No I don't just looking for something small with decent image quality. I was tempted by the S100 but I don't think I can stretch my budget that far unfortunately..

I don't think anything comes close to the s95.

Absolutely. I'd stop searching now and get the s95.
For £200ish, wanting a standard zoom range, you cant get better. Great lens, wide aperture - good low performance, excellent detail, great colors. One of the best compacts there is.

Canon S100, Olympus XZ-1, Panasonic LX5 + there is are samsung and fujii models that are similar/better

I have the s95 and it is a terrific compact camera. The shot's it takes in low lgiht without flash absolutely amaze me! I am a total camera noob though so I dare say I am not even scratching the surface of what it is capable of. Bought mine on the rainforest for £230 which it is regularly priced at. ALthough not today it would appear

Cheapest price on Camera Price Buster for the S95 is shown as £269. Seems that there has been an overall price increase since February on this camera, which is odd considering that the S100 has recently been released.

S100 is around the £360 mark, so I suspect the demand for the S95 is still high, hence putting the price up.
