Spec me a camera.

I will be going abroad some 2/3 times this year, and I don't have a decent camera to take some photos. My phone is quite crap too, so I can't use that as my source for photos.

Now I'm not a picture person. Its not like each time I go out I take 100 photos. Quite the contrary. I take 1 photo every 10 times I go out...maybe, but I'll be going to see some football games, and I want to take photos of those.

I want a cheap digital camera that I can put in my pocket. It has to have the ability to take some high quality photos at good resolutions, although nothing too flashy. I hate cameras that give you a very dark feeling, or lack of color. I want it to have the ability to have an 8gb or 16gb memory card, because I know I will be taking quite a few videos.

The most important thing though, is battery. We have 2 cameras, both Sony, and they can't seem to stay up for more than 30 minutes with fully charged batteries. That is why I don't want to use them. I'm not fussed weather the camera you suggest has its own battery (and charger) or if you need other batteries, but it should be able to stay on for quite some time.

I'm not sure how much I want to spend. I don't have tonnes of money to spend but on the other side, I want a good camera. I would say €100 is my absolute maximum. If there is something that is still very good and cheaper, I will obviously opt for that.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. My camera knowledge is close to 0. I have no idea what I need to look for, so please help me out. Thanks.

The thing is you want a a cheap camera that has high specifications and long battery life but have no budget.

That is like say I want a car that is good for driving off road, can do 0-60MPH in 3.5s and do 70MPG but costs 2K.

Choose what you want. If you budget is that low then by whatever point and shoot takes your fancy, they all give the same images at that price, will all have terrible battery life and IQ will be at the bottom end.

Raise your budget to €500 and you will have more options.
Not really. I've seen many cameras that produce grainy photos, photos which look sepia, batteries that don't last more than 30 minutes, etc.

I just want a decent camera with a good battery life.
You might look at the Fuji F500 EXR, I have used one for a few years... It's cheap and packed with features including high zoom, HD and slow mo video. I've got some cracking photos out of it.

I only recommend because I have used it a lot and got good results.

Thanks I'll have a look.
