Spec me a camera

I'm going on my honeymoon next year, hopefully a tour of the west coast of the US and maybe a trip to Pripyat on the cards so looking to get a new camera.

No real experience with photography so probably looking at some sort of bridge camera. My last camera was a Canon Ixus 90.

Budget ~£200-£300.

What would you recommend?

Size isnt really an issue. My wife currently has something similar to this, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V

I am quite tempted with the Canon PowerShot SX50.

It wasnt specifically the zoom. I have had Canon cameras before although not as high spec. It appeared to have good reviews as well. I shall take a look. Thanks.
