Hi All,

The wife and I want to invest in a nice camera. It's something we'd want to get into, but don't want to spend too much money in case we don't get the use out of it. We're currently thinking the Sony a5000 might be a good choice as 1. It's not a huge DSLR that you need to lug around your neck 2. if we really get into it, we can buy new lenses etc to get the most out of it before moving up to DSLR world.

Any thoughts about the a5000 or anything else that might be suitable would be great.

The kind of photos we'd take will be family, landscapes etc.

We wouldn't want to spend more than £300 for camera only.

Many thanks in advance!

I have to admit I'm pretty out of date with what Sony are up to so you'll have to do your own research, but the other obvious recommendation would be the micro four thirds system (generally considered to have the most complete lens selection) and in particular the Olympus E-PL5, which is under £300 with kit lens.
