my car got scrapped this morning, all day i been looking at cars still not found out. i got £2k to spend, but im really looking around the 1.5k mark so then i can buy a few extras for it.

So far im really keen on an old 206, i just like the look of them.

Ideally id want a 3dr, electric windows is a must. must look good and i dont like anything big so less then a 1.6litre. I drive to wales every other weekend so id want it cheaper on fuel.

any other suggestions? thanks.
i quite like fat cars because im fat lol
dont want big car like mondeo etc just prefer smaller type.

thx

focus is a good option, but one for 1.5k?

you would get an astra for cheaper and at that price the difference in comfort wouldnt be too much of a problem.

personally, with big legs myself, i found the astra centre console to be annoying on my left leg, but it might be worth trying yourself :]

you want something comfortable though, depending on where in wales you drive it could be 300 odd miles each way, which can be very annoying in something crap :]

i remember when i was looking for a focus and mondeo at the same time, spent about 3 months of intense analysing which one would be better for me. In the end I went for a mk3 mondeo and have absolutely no regrets. Love the car unconditonally.

There were a few decent examples of 2001 focuses but one of the major reasons that I didn't go for a focus is that I wanted the facelift model (2002 and after I think) and at my budget of 2.5k I couldn't find decent one really. They were around the 3k from what I can remember. There were, however, decent examples of the prefacelift models (2001) about. I just didn't really like the look of them. They look so much smarter with the indicators stuck in the headlights.

Of course, bang for buck you're gonna get much much better value getting an mk3 mondeo for around 2k. A LOT of car for 2/1.5k these days. They drive like an absolute dream. Why not tempt yourself into considering a mondeo instead, even though I know you ruled one out - but then Schumacher ruled out driving an F1 car again but came back to one so these things happen! :D

Must look good and be a £1500 hatchback? Surely some mistake? I think its time you realised you wont be getting a V8 Vantage for £1500, reduced your expectations a bit and bought something thats better value and better suited for trips from Wakefield to Wales - I'd not want to do that in a 206!

Plenty of hatchbacks that look "good" and that is £1500. Ford Focus?

"Good" is subjective and a matter of opinion, but, comparing like for like models in the same league I don't see any other prettier examples.
