Right well basically I finish uni soon and am looking to buy my first car. I've been driving 3 years and am 20. Been a named driver on a directline policy for 3 years (so I assume this means I get 3yrs ncb with them? please correct if wrong) The car i'm insured on is a 1.9 SDI polo which is alright.
I want something that is fun to drive and reasonably quick. Commute will be roughly 30 miles a day. I just want peoples ideas on what I'm like to get "reasonably" insured on area LE10 (i don't mind paying £1.5k) Budget roughly 5k.

cheers

Before I start, a plea to the forum.

GUYS! He drives a Polo 1.9 SDI and thinks its 'alright'. These are very slow, so the OP's definition of 'reasonably quick' is not going to be the same as yours. He doesn't need to be recommended 300bhp cars which do 0-60 in 5 seconds. I suspect decent engined regular cars will do the job. At 20, I had a 2 litre Mondeo and thought it was 'reasonably quick', to give you some context here.

That said, Focus 2 litre is what I'd suggest.

lol polo sdi to focus 2 litre he'll end up killing himself or someone else :p (just kidding)

focus 2.0 excellent choice, any focus is tbh..

When I said alright I mean it does the job i need it to, runs me around at the weekend. We used to have a 3.0l camry (fugly i know) but that shifted pretty nice my mate has a civic 1.6i vtec s i'd like something comparable but a little quicker...

Fox a bit of reasoning behind that choice? Just to give me an idea of why?

You infact have 3 years named driver discount which is different to no claims bonus/discount but still gives you reasonable discount when purchasing a policy in your own name. You can only use the named driver discount with your current insurer whereas NCB can be taken with any insurer.
