So...

2k budget
Small (fiesta size preferably)
As reliable as can be
Doesn't need to be fast

He's been looking at Swift's, Lupo's and Clio's.

I would've thought a fiesta would be best but not sure at this budget.

Thoughts?

+1 Fiesta
I have a 1.25 Mk6, it's reasonably slow (apart from in 2nd above 2500, it's like a train :D )
Really nice steering though, quite comfortable, good boot. Cracking little car
Only on 50k ish miles but never let me/grandad down, had one cambelt change and regular services etc but nothing much else

I know someone who is selling a 2006 Fiesta 1.4 diesel in questionable condition which has had three replacement turbo's and a replacement engine and is registered Cat C if you're interested?

He's asking £2600 for it, but it could be a good deal if you get him to accept £800. :p

Why does this not surprise me

He was trying to sell it with about three weeks MOT left on it as well. And the ad had three pictures which showed the same angle twice and one of the side partially covered by a bin, and the description made no mention of mileage, or service history...

I sent him a scathing message about how its incredibly low to try and offload his shed onto his friends for a ridiculous markup, and deleted him. He now leases an Audi A1 which he has told everyone he's bought. :p

Not trying to turn it into one. Thread had died so bumped. :p

So has your mate thought about these options clamfrills?

70PS 1.2 Ibiza/Fabia might not be a bad shout either... I'd say Polo but they are more expensive for the same thing.

Citroen C1 for the group 1 insurance? Would be slightly more than the £2000 maybe by £500 but depending on age would save that on the insurance over 2 years easily.
