Criteria:
- Budget £12K
- No older than 2008 ideally
- No preference to FWD or RWD tbh
- Less than 50K miles ideally
- Around 200BHP+
- Would like to go manual this time

Looked at a few hot hatches, Impreza WRX hatches, Leon Cupras etc.

I think it would help a lot of us to narrow down the search if you could explain why you didn't like the Ibiza you had?

That criteria screams hot hatch, or coupé to me...

DSG got on my nerves and too much power for the chassis. peak torque at 1500rpm meant a lot of wheel spinning, which is useless.

I'm quite taken with the idea of a CW FN2 with LSD, as I drove a 2007 FN2 but it had no LSD and according to evo the LSD makes a big difference.

Think they made Perodua Kelisa's right upto 2008, i go for one of them, then spend afew k on driver training.


Edit: in all seriousness, we could all do with some extra training, i'd seriously consider it.

Already have! Done the IAM and roadcraft/track craft training before.

£12k will get you a very nice STi of sorts Forget these silly WRXs.

Not really. The first supra was never claimed for so is just an accident.

Subaru imprezas are just crazy prices though.

If you can afford to spend £12k on the car, then drop it down to less than £10k and have plenty money for insurance.

2008 onwards is limiting the choices, but:

Focus ST
Golf GTi
Clio RS

MK5 GTI has snooze mobile looks.

ST im not sure on but will give one a drive.

Clio RS is a contender.

I drove leon cupra Mk2 at the weekend, was just useless, too much power through the front wheels.

What about the unloved child of the A3 range, the 3.2 V6 Quattro?

Not a huge performance difference, and they make a great sound.

these are essentially a Golf R32 aren't they? They just fill me with "meh" though. Poor economy and nose heavy apparently?

I was going to suggest a Meg 250, but I don't think there's any for close to £12k??

just for newness sake really, seems like a good age for a 2nd hand buy. Dependant on the car obviously!
